In the past, these films made billions, but new (semi-)failures show that viewers have become more demanding

In Romania in 2000, only one (Mission Impossible 2) of the ten highest-grossing films was a sequel. In 2010, only one (Inception) was NOT a remake or sequel. In just one decade the cinematographic landscape changed dramatically and things have remained the same today, although in 2025 the percentage of original films has increased substantially thanks to Romanian productions such as The Yellow Tie, The Neighbor and The Race.
