The big-budget film adaptation of the popular media franchise is hampered by clichés, but it has rhythm, heart and... sex jokes
After the acclaimed animation Kubo and the Two Strings and one of the Transformers films best received by audiences and critics, Bumblebee, director Travis Knight dedicates himself to an almost impossible mission: to bring to the screen a combination of adventure, fantasy and sci-fi, namely a big-budget film inspired by the long-running Masters of the Universe franchise. The result is not perfect, but we can consider it a true summer blockbuster, because it is in a good mood with an important dose of humor (and self-irony) and an endearing story about the discovery of inner power and what makes us, after all, heroes.
