The Devil Wears Prada 2: How to Get Along Humanly

"The coat makes the man" versus "the man honors the coat", in a predictable but pleasant sequel

In one of the most ridiculous scenes in The Devil Wears Prada, Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep) glacially explains to new nurse Andy (Anne Hathaway) what we might call the fashion circuit in nature. In short, when her majesty, the goddess of fashion, chooses a look, it is copied and simplified endlessly until it reaches even the closets of those who are not at all interested in the secrets of a successful outfit. Some were fascinated by this scene, especially because of Streep's perfect "delivery", but others it made them think about entitlement, conceit, disconnection from reality and "the coat makes the man", when in fact "the man honors the coat".
