Olivia Wilde's dramedy has something to say for each of the spectators
At the beginning there was a play, The Neighbors Upstairs, written by the Spaniard Cesc Gay. The success of the play led to the film adaptation of Sentimental (2020), and now we have an American remake with an impressive pedigree, The Invite. It is an almost absolute truth that the "translations" are worse than the original (a famous example is Force Majeure versus Downhill), but not in the case of this uneven film, but eminently... Helpful.
