The gloomy "comedy" of the Danish Anders Thomas Jensen pulls the rug from under your feet
The biggest mistake a spectator can make is to enter the cinema with certain expectations: the director's job is not to satisfy the personal expectations of each member of the audience, but to convince them to accept his vision. However, the premise and trailers of The Last Viking can really push these expectations in the wrong direction, promising a lighter and funnier mix than what happens later on screen. Basically, this is a warning-chronicle of a film that is mostly captivating, but uneven and unexpectedly violent.
