The actor's family has agreed to have him recreated with artificial intelligence for As Deep as The Grave
Val Kilmer died in April 2025 of pneumonia, after battling for years with throat cancer that led him to retire from public life. Five years before his death, Kilmer had been cast in the film As Deep as the Grave (originally titled Canyon of the Dead) as a Catholic priest fascinated by the spiritual traditions of the Native Americans. The production of the film was in advanced stages, and the actor was expected on set, but he was far too weak to play his role. Here, years later, he will appear in the film after the family agreed to be recreated with the help of artificial intelligence.
